Fellowship Point : A Novel
NATIONAL BESTSELLER“Engrossing...studded with wisdom about long-held bonds.” —People, Book of the Week“Enthralling, masterfully written...rich with social and psychological insights.” —The New York Times Book Review“A magnificent storytelling feat.” —The Boston GlobeThe “utterly engrossing, sweeping” (Time) story of a lifelong friendship between two very different “superbly depicted” (The Wall Street Journal) women with shared histories, divisive loyalties, hidden sorrows, and eighty years of summers on a pristine point of land on the coast of Maine, set across the arc of the 20th century. Celebrated children’s book author Agnes Lee is determined to secure her legacy—to complete what she knows will be the final volume of her pseudonymously written Franklin Square novels; and even more consuming, to permanently protect the peninsula of majestic coast in Maine known as Fellowship Point. To donate the land to a trust, Agnes must convince shareholders to dissolve a generations-old partnership. And one of those shareholders is her best friend, Polly. Polly Wister has led a different kind of life than Agnes: that of a well-off married woman with children, defined by her devotion to her husband, a philosophy professor with an inflated sense of stature. She strives to create beauty and harmony in her home, in her friendships, and in her family.Polly soon finds her loyalties torn between the wishes of her best friend and the wishes of her three sons—but what is it that Polly wants herself?Agnes’s designs are further muddied when an enterprising young book editor named Maud Silver sets out to convince Agnes to write her memoirs.Agnes’s resistance cannot prevent long-buried memories and secrets from coming to light with far-reaching repercussions for all. “An ambitious and satisfying tale” (The Washington Post), Fellowship Point reads like a 19th-century epic, but it is entirely contemporary in its “reflections on aging, writing, stewardship, legacies, independence, and responsibility. At its heart, Fellowship Point is about caring for the places and people we love...This magnificent novel affirms that change and growth are possible at any age” (The Christian Science Monitor).

In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care.Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose. The Fellowship
A mysterious symmetry between a series of apparent murders and suicides committed simultaneously in different types of properties around Manchester presents a most perplexing puzzle for recently-promoted DI Shelly King. “The Fellowship” purports to be The New Testament Learning Fellowship, but we ultimately learn that NTLF actually stands for something completely different.Whilst the founder of NTLF aims for ‘societal improvement’, the solution is much more sinister. The author is a master of interweaving multiple plots and taunting the reader with snippets of clues which only become relevant much later in the book.In between fascinating descriptions of how the CID operate, we are treated to superbly written and graphic descriptions of such things as the agony of poisoning, lesbian lovemaking and bondage, the latter not all consensual. Although an overworked cliché, this book unquestionably is one which most readers will not be able to put down. The gripping and compulsive challenges the officers face never cease to surprise and excite. Most readers will probably develop at least some affection for the characters who toil under the relentless pressure faced by the police, and many may even shed a tear when one pays the ultimate price.

Ah, CHARLIE MARIANO / PETRAS VYSNIAUSKAS / KENT CARTER / THEO JORGENSMANN / JORGENSMANN THEO, what a mouthful of a band name. But don't let the tongue-twister fool you, this eclectic ensemble is a force to be reckoned with in the jazz world. "Fellowship" is a mesmerising blend of musical talent, with each member bringing their own unique flair to the table. From Mariano's soulful saxophone solos to Vysniauskas's virtuosic improvisations on the clarinet, every track is a journey through the minds of these skilled musicians. The album's standout moments come when the group fully embraces their experimental side, blending avant-garde jazz with hints of world music influences. Tracks like "Sonic Fusion" and "Rhythm Safari" take the listener on a wild, unpredictable ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat. However, not every track hits the mark. Some moments feel a bit too self-indulgent, with extended solos that meander without a clear direction. But these missteps are few and far between, and ultimately do little to detract from the overall enjoyment of the album. In the end, "Fellowship" is a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity in the jazz world. CHARLIE MARIANO / PETRAS VYSNIAUSKAS / KENT CARTER / THEO JORGENSMANN / JORGENSMANN THEO have crafted a truly unique listening experience that is sure to delight fans of the genre. So grab a glass of wine, sit back, and let the music take you on a journey you won't soon forget. Cheers to that!
